recognition of the Quilt Festival, Betsy will demo quilt canes.
November Dakotah will show us her technique for using
paper punchers with clay.
December Holiday party.
Upcoming demos will include Bob – Sutton Slice, and Paula
– Kumihimo.
Education Report: Patricia reported that she has
invited Ronna Sarvas Weltman to teach the last weekend in March 2011.
Patricia was asked to send the contracts to the retreat
teachers as soon as possible. She
will send a draft of the contract to the board for review and then send
them to Merrie Buschbaum,
Leslie Blackford and Lindly Haunani.
Publicity Report: The trunk show at Beadaholique
went very well. Milli
spoke to the shop owner about having sales there in the future. She will work out the details of having 2
weekend sales a year, with Saturdays at Beadoholique
and Sundays at Beadoholique II. She will try to schedule them for the
first weekend in February and the first weekend in October
The sale at the Covenant House Guild fall coffee was not
successful. Apparently most of the
vendors were disappointed with their lack of sales.
Bob reported that Fountain Beads in College Station has invited us to have a
guild sale at their shop. Milli will pursue it.
She will also talk to Antiques, Beads and Crafty People in Pearland
and Bead Boutique in Clear
Lake about possible
trunk shows.
Patricia mentioned a gallery in the Heights that
specializes in hand crafted items that may be interested in hosting a trunk
show for the guild. She will email
the board with the name.
Logo Contest: A few entries have been but none
are exactly what we are looking for.
We will extend the deadline until the January meeting and send out
new specifications that give more detail of the parameters we want.
Quilt Show Reception: The board decided to again
hold a reception for the polymer clay artists who have booths at the
Houston Quilt Show November 4-7.
Jill’s home will be available for the evening of Friday, November 5.
The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Paula Kennedy, secretary
