Treasurer’s and Membership reports: At the current time the guild has $9,731.55 in the bank. There are 49 paid members. Several new members are expected from the Gather of the Guilds (GOG) that was held at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) on September 12.

Future meetings:
September: “Clay Day” where attendees can work on whatever clay project they choose.
October: Bob will demonstrate faux precious stone.
November: Betsy will help us make a variety of holiday ornaments.
December: Holiday Party

Reception for Houston Quilt Show Poluymer Clay artists:
Judith Skinner, Sarajane Helm, Karen Kozar and Jenny Patterson will have booths at this year’s quilt festival on October 15-18. The guild would like to hold a reception for them as we have done in the past. Bob will call Jill to see if her home is available for the reception on Saturday evening. Alternative locations were discussed if Jill’s is not available, including Betsy’s home and the 7th floor boardroom of Bayou Manor. [Bob called Jill after the board meeting had concluded. Jill is available and would prefer to have the reception at her home on Friday, October 16.]

Classes for 2010:
The retreat next weekend, September 25-27.
Patricia indicated last month that she was going to invite Laurie Mika, Judy Belcher and Julie Picarello to teach classes in 2010. Other suggestions were Sandra McCaw, Katherine Dewey and Jeffrey Dever.

Pre-Holiday Sale: The guild will hold a sale and demo at Read It Again and Again on Saturday, October 10. Paula will demo; Ronalyn will handle the monetary transactions. The bookstore owner is considering selling the bookstore due to family problems. Milli reported that the owner assures the guild that she will not sell before our event on October 10. However, there is a chance that the store may not be available for future sales.

Gathering of the Guilds (GOG): The GOG was held at the HCCC on Saturday, September 12. place. The event was a success. Twenty-five people signed our email list to receive information about future sales and 20 signed it asking for more information about the guild.

Challenges: The next challenge will be the butterfly challenge at the retreat. The challenge after that will be in the spring.

Retreat: The retreat was discussed at a retreat committee meeting preceding the board meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Paula Kennedy, secretary
