The 2009 Lone Star Retreat will be held at the South Shore Harbour Resort & Conference Center.
This is the same place as the 2007 retreat.
However, we have secured a large, convenient ballroom for our main area and smaller breakout rooms for
the classes. We will have three instructors teaching one class each with plenty of free time to work on projects.
The instructors will be available during the break time to address questions that come up.
Instructors:
Kim Cavender - will be teaching her inspiring class
Faux Sticks and Stones. "A passion for rocks and a fascination with inclusions and surface techniques was the
inspiration for this exciting class. Experiment with interesting tools, materials, and a variety of surface techniques
to create beautiful, unique beach stones and weathered wood that you'll assemble into one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces."
Dayle Doroshow - will be teaching her intriguing class, Shimmering Rattle Beads. "We'll start off this
spirited class by looking to ancient cultures as our inspiration to create Rattle Pendants and Beads from beautifully
designed sheets and balls of polymer clay. Add dimension to your work by adding sound! The rattles can be in many shapes
and sizes, from simple forms to more complex. We will explore ways to produce different sounds within the rattle.
Techniques for surface designs will be many and varied - Millefiore, texture and sculptural elements."
Barbara McGuire - is teaching her wonderfully artistic Mokume Gane Collage Pendant class.
"Learn an easy method to obtain fabulous results in polymer clay Mokume Gane. This Asian technique builds
up layers of color that are distorted with stamps to create unusual design patterns in jewelry. The class
emphasizes color positioning and use of graphic design patterns."

$200 for members of the Houston Polymer Clay Guild
$225 for non-members

To minimize the cost, we are only providing an Ice Cream Social on Friday Night and a Awards Luncheon on Saturday.
All other meals are up to the individual. To assist the participants, we will provide a list of nearby restuarants.
