Board meeting minutes, Saturday, July 18, 2009

The meeting began at 12:10 p.m. Present were: Bob Wiley – President, Betsy Fraser – Vice-President , Paula Kennedy – Secretary, Ronalyn Hurley – Treasurer and Membership Coordinator , Patricia Daugherty -- Education Coordinator and Milli Jewell – Publicity Coordinator.

Treasurer’s and Membership reports: At the current time the guild has $10,541.12 in the bank account. There are 47 paid members.

Library: Bob will ask Mindy if she would like to be relieved as the librarian. Dakotah has donated a Donna Kato book and some texture plates for the library.

Future meetings:
July: Patricia will demonstrate Mokume Gane with alcohol inks.
August: The meting will be held in the solarium as the Houston Bead Society will be holding their mini-bazaar in our usual meeting room. Trish Hodgins of Poly Clay Play will demonstrate the use of core adapters for use with the Makins’ extruder. Trish will refund the shipping cost to anyone who orders the adapters and picks them up at the August guild meeting. Orders needs to be placed with Trish by August 3.
September: Because of the Gathering of the Guilds at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) on Sept 12 and the retreat on Sept 25-27 there will be no regular meeting in September.

Pre-Holiday Sale: Milli has made preliminary arrangements for the guild to hold a sale and demo at Milli’s friend Gracie’s bookstore Read It Again on Saturday October 10. Gracie will provide two or three tables; Betsy and Paula will do general demos, Ronalyn will be cashier. Milli will send potential sellers an inventory sheet to complete. Milli will email Bob the details for the website.

Traveling Exhibit: The board will design and complete a traveling exhibit to be placed in libraries, schools, etc. Further discussion will continue after the retreat and pre-holiday sale.

Gathering of the Guilds (GOG): The GOG will be held at the HCCC on Saturday, September 12. The guild will have a table.

Website: The website needs to be overhauled and brought up to date. Ronalyn will check into easy-to-use web hosting programs. It needs to be a system that is easy for any of the board members to use.

Retreat: The upcoming retreat was discussed at a separate meeting at 11:00 on July 18, 2009.

The meeting adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
