Houston Polymer Clay Guild
Board meeting minutes, Saturday, July 17, 2010
The meeting began at 12:10 p.m. Present were: Bob Wiley – President,
Betsy Fraser – Vice-President, Ronalyn Hurley – Treasurer and Membership
Coordinator, Paula Kennedy – Secretary, Milli Jewell – Publicity Coordinator,
and Patricia Daugherty -- Education Coordinator. Absent was Tabiatha McKeever –
Member-at-Large.
Treasurer’s and Membership reports: Ronalyn reported via email
that the guild has $7,257.22 in the bank and $862.36 in the PayPal
account. We have 52 paid members.
Publicity Report: Milli
reported that she is almost done working up a syllabus for a beginner’s
class. She will send her draft to
Patricia for review and then to the rest of the board. She suggested that we offer a $5 discount
on membership if you take the beginner’s class.
Education Report: Laurie Mika is scheduled to hold a two-day
workshop August 14 & 15.
Patricia will post an announcement on the Mixed Media chat
group. We currently have 5 paid
places filled
Milli will investigate the possibility of a small
gallery show at of guild items at the Pearl Museum of Fine Art in Spring.
The trunk show is finalized for September 11 at Beadaholique on
Louetta. Bob will talk to the owner
about price range and how much completed jewelry vs. beads we should expect
to bring
Future meetings:
July: Bob will demo “invisible canes”.
August: Patricia will demonstrate her tile bracelet construction.
September: Betsy will ask
Mary Alvarez if she has something she could demo.
October: In recognition of
the Quilt Festival, Betsy will demo quilt canes.
Challenge: The October challenge will be “Faces”.
Retreat: Patricia has gotten a response from Lindly Haunani
indicating that she is interested.
Leslie Blackford is a definite.
Patricia has had difficulty getting a hold of Merrie Buschbaum to
confirm that she will come to the retreat.
Purchasing Agent: The board voted to appoint
Paula a the guild’s purchasing agent and to reimburse her the cost of the
items up front if requested.
The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
